Rehabilitation Of Ballsh – Fier National Railway

Project Description
The first phase of works for the Ballsh-Fier-Vlora national railway project consisted of the construction of 34 km of the existing Fier-Vlora railway line, including the construction of a new 2.5 km railway line for the Fier refinery. Part of the project has also included the construction of lines for 3 railway stations, Fier, Levan and Novosela, including the reconstruction of 26 railway crossings.
This phase of work has consisted in improving the existing rail transport system, depreciated over the last two decades. The final works were carried out with a special leveling machine, which carried the whole line behavior within the project parameters both in axis and in quota.
The next phases of this investment are expected to have a positive and developmental approach to domestic rail systems, which will increase the quality of service to meet market demands for this type of transport in the coming decades.
Complete reconfiguration of the existing highly degraded railway network to enable efficient engineering solutions, in view of the problems encountered during project implementation.
