The project consists of arranging the river Gjanica to restore its natural character; providing a conception for the central city square; improvement of the facades of the city and the cinema-theater building.
The project also seeks to facilitate public spaces and provide direct access to the river by reconstruction of the arched bridge and the scaled bridge and construction of a new bridge. Construction of underground parking at Mother Teresa Square, mini-squares and access to the central park and planting of greenery mainly along the banks of the river and along the roads will bring urban renewal of the city center of Fier, and a completely different image alomg with the opportunity for further economic and cultural development and most importantly a return of this area to better serve the residents of the city.
Challenges during Project Implementation:
Intervention and rehabilitation of the Gjanica River in completely unfavorable climatic conditions has been one of the main challenges during project implementation. Another challenge in this highly complex project is its successful finalization in reduced timeframes, with the objective of completing works by the end of 2019.
