Solid Waste Management in Southeast Albania. Construction work on the new Landfill in Maliq

The landfill is located near Maliq and will cover all waste management in the Korça region for about 25 years.

An important part of the construction work is landfill layers with a total surface of 40,000 m2, including a thickness of 60 cm of compacted clay, geo-membrane, geotextile and drainage gravel layers.

Maliqi Landfill is the first in the country with a REVERSE OSMOSIS plant technology system. The plant has a treatment capacity of approximately 100 m3 of waste per day and meets all European emission standards.

After 3-4 years of operation of this landfill, the natural gas generated by it will be collected and treated with the BIOGAS plant until the final settlement of the landfill covered in the future.
